BY ELECTIONS OF COOCHBEHAR LS DECLARED IN BETWEEN RAAS MELA

Webdesk, TNI Coochbehar, 17th October, 2016: Coochbehar will have by-elections in between the Raas Mela celebrations. Today the declarations came from the election commission along with the date and time. The voting will be on 19th November 2016. However, according to the pre-scheduled Raas Mela will start from 14th November. The mela will continue for the next 15 days. The localites, as well as the traders, are now very much speculative about the outcome. Unofficial sources said that a sudden pressure has mounted on the police administration because of the twin security arrangements to be made during that time one because of the Raas Mela and another of the elections. The DM of Coochbehar Mr. P. Ulganathan has said that an all-party meeting has been called tomorrow regarding the situation. According to the election notification 2nd, November would be the last date of submission and 5th November is the last date of withdrawing nomination by the candidates. The counting date would be on 22nd November 2016.
